Oxnead talk by Rob Knee on Bure connections

Paston Heritage Society chairman Rob Knee gave an illustrated talk entitled The Waters Of Destiny – The Paston Family And The River Bure on Tuesday 7th November 2017 at 7:30 pm.

He said: "The Paston family rose from the humblest of origins to become the dominant family in North Norfolk throughout the 15th,16th and 17th centuries. The Bure and its tributaries provide a setting for much of the family story."

The talk, which was hosted by the Bure Navigation Conservation Trust (BNCT) at Oxnead Hall, attracted a large attendance of well over 100 on a not-very-inviting autumn evening. The setting was magnificent and appropriate, being  probably the most important home of any of the Pastons. Owners Mr and Mrs Aspinall – always interested in the Paston story – were thanked for their generosity in making the venue  available.
